Archive reconstruction
The original Political Hurricane page is no longer available in our recovered database. This archival version is reconstructed from a substantial surviving mirror and is presented as a historical record, not as a current editorial position.
This November 2014 piece revisited reporting The Political Hurricane had published during the earlier Florida Democratic Party chair fight. Its focus was Ruth’s List, a Florida organization supporting Democratic women candidates, and how the group used the money it raised.
The surviving mirror shows that the article examined state campaign-finance records and criticized the share of spending it said went to consultants, administration and related services rather than directly to candidates. It also questioned the value of the organization’s candidate training and argued that donors should understand how contributions were being used.
The piece was explicitly tied to the internal Florida Democratic Party debate of the period. It connected Ruth’s List and its leadership to support for Allison Tant in the state-party chair contest and used that connection to make a broader argument about party infrastructure, fundraising and accountability.
Because the original page body has not been recovered independently, this version does not reproduce the missing article word for word. It preserves the original title, publication date and URL while summarizing only material that survives in the mirror.
