Archive reconstruction
The original Political Hurricane article body is missing from our recovered database. This page preserves the historical headline, date and URL while clearly distinguishing the publication’s allegation from the contemporaneous denial.
In December 2012, during the Florida Democratic Party chair contest, The Political Hurricane published an article alleging that Allison Tant had lobbied in 2000 for ChoicePoint, the parent company of DBT, a firm associated with Florida’s controversial voter-roll purge.
That allegation was subsequently reported by Creative Loafing Tampa while covering the chair race. The same report also records that Tant denied the allegation and that Martha Barnett, a former colleague at Holland & Knight, supported Tant’s denial.
Because the original Political Hurricane body and its underlying documentation have not been independently recovered, this archive restoration does not adopt the allegation as established fact. It preserves the existence of the historical article and the contemporaneous dispute around it.
The distinction is important: the old headline states a claim made by the former publication. The surviving secondary record shows that claim was contested at the time.
